Pickup trucks are known to be particularly targeted by thieves. There has been a spate of Toyota Hilux thefts & similar vehicles recently within GMP areas and also in nearby forces.

If you haven’t already, consider investing in a tracking system. These make it far more likely that police will be able to find your stolen vehicle. Don’t rely on an Apple AirTag or similar as they can be easily located. 

An effective way to protect your truck is to use a strong disc lock or something similar to a pedal box to protect your vehicle. 

Immobilisers and CCTV systems can also provide a strong deterrent, ensuring your vehicle isn’t seen as an ‘easy target’.

It’s also believed that thieves could be using keyless entry to steal vehicles.

With the Hilux and other Toyota / Lexus models putting your keys in a faraday doesn’t always work. 

If you own a newer 2018 onwards Toyota motor then call the dealer and see if you’re eligible for a free or reduced tracker

Remember to lock your car and house doors, even if your home & remove any valuables/tools from your vehicle.
